Zichler, Simcha

Son of Yitzhak and Gronia. He was born on October 13, 1947 in Ramat Rachel in Jerusalem. When he was about six months old his father fell on the defense of Ramat Rachel. Simcha attended the “Ein Hacarmel” elementary school in Kibbutz Ein Hacarmel and at the high school, also in Ein Hacarmel. From an early age he was drawn to music – he started with an accordion and then moved to the guitar. He took part in the choir and loved to sing and play. In his singing and singing he attracted the youth to him and there was no meeting of youth whose joy was not among its givers. As his name did, he was singing and playing with all the humor he had. His work showed persistence and dedication. In the period leading up to the enlistment, he took upon himself the planting of the potato plot and continued to do so until his enlistment. In this responsible work, Simcha displayed extraordinary devotion and therefore succeeded in it. He was drafted into the IDF in July 1966 and volunteered for the Nahal Brigade, together with his fellow kibbutz members. He quickly rose to the rank of sergeant. He was very devoted to his family and took advantage of every leave from the army to be with them. He did not spare his time and energy to encourage and help. He always knew how to say a good word, to tell a joke and to be Simcha. Toward the end of his service he went down to Eilat. One day, two and a half years later, he was injured while carrying out his duties. Simha fought death for about six months, out of the discovery of extraordinary vitality. On the 28th of Sivan 5729 (28.5.1969) he died of his wounds. He was laid to rest in the Ein Hacarmel cemetery.
