Zevuluni, Isaac

Son of Yaffe and Yona, was born on the 16th of Sivan, 5628 (June 4, 1928) in Kfar Hasidim. His parents were among the first settlers to settle there. Yitzhak attended the elementary school in the village, and later at the Yagur Regional School. After completing his studies, he joined the Palmach and participated in many operations, and was arrested in Latrun for a certain period of time in June 1946. He was attached to a commanders’ course and sent to service in Jerusalem. , He was one of the Gush Etzion fortresses and planners of his defense, although his soul was averse to depict a deer and did not want to be called “commander,” he was sent to a squad commanders’ course and served as a lieutenant commander at the Ramat Rachel base. He was one of the members of the “Halachah” (“the Mountain Division”) division, Palmach and Hachash fighters who were sent as reinforcements to Gush Etzion after the large attack on the Gush on 14.1.1948. The fighters departed from Hartuv on the night of January 15-16, loaded with weapons, ammunition and equipment, but due to the late hour of departure and the difficulties of the road, they could not reach the Gush overnight. At dawn, the department was discovered by villagers in the vicinity of the villages of Beit Natif, Jaba and Surif, who called the Arabs of the area to the area and surrounded the department. The fighters organized themselves on one of the hills (the “Battle Hill” today) and fought with the masses of Arabs until they all fell in battle on January 16, 1948. Yitzhak was brought to a mass grave in Kfar Etzion. On November 17, 1949, he was put to rest with the rest of the victims of the Gush at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
