Zemler, Mordechai (Motel)


Was born in 1915 in the city of Volodzimierz-Volynsk, Poland. He had a high school education and did business. During the Second World War, he served as a gunner in the Polish army but did not manage to participate in the battles, because the Russians entered his town and deported him to Siberia. With the signing of the agreement between Stalin and Shikorsky, he was released from the quarantine camp and returned to the Polish army, with whom he moved to Iran and from there to Palestine and from Israel to Italy. He participated in the fierce battles in Monte Cassino and received medals. When the war was over, he moved with the Polish army to England, where he was liberated. Mordechai immigrated to Israel in 1947. He spent several months in Tel Aviv and enlisted in the first draft. He served in the Golani brigade, was stationed in the cereal sector, and for the first time he happened to be familiar with the working settlements and was enchanted by the idea of ​​joining them at the end of the war. Mordechai fell in battle in Sha’ar Hagolan on the 15th of Iyar 5708 (May 15, 1948.) He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Degania Aleph.
