Zemel, Hananiah
Son of Deborah and Zvi, was born on September 22, 1929, apparently in Jerusalem. He completed his studies at the Talmud Torah in the Mea Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem and found his life as a sparrow. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he enlisted in the Jerusalem Brigade and fought in Ramat Rachel, which constituted a wedge in the Arab area and controlled the Jerusalem-Bethlehem road. The situation worsened when, on May 19, 1948, Egyptian forces arrived with cannons. The enemy concentrated an effort to capture the point, and was subjected to heavy shelling, which caused the destruction of the farm buildings and the fire. In these battles he fell on the 12th of Iyar 5708 (May 21, 1948). He was buried in Sheikh Bader Aleph. On the 28th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem
