Zelinger, Hanan


Was born on September 13, 1921 in Berlin, the capital of Germany, to an educated and assimilated family, and when Hitler came to power, he went to study at the Jewish school named for Herzl. After his studies he worked for a time in a hat factory And in March 1939 he immigrated to Israel as part of the Youth Aliya from Germany, where he continued his studies at the vocational school in Yagur, in the carpentry profession, and was active in mobilizing the ranks of the children’s organization. As a member of the kibbutz and as a carpenter, he has never known a limit to the efforts he devoted to the Haganah. He also played football and soccer, and was considered the best runner for medium distances, and was the first member of the “Hapoel” team to compete in the 400 meters running competition between the country’s Notre Dame, The sport in the youth ranks. In his activities in the Haganah, he dealt a great deal in the “conspiracy” and many of his students were in the country. He had only a few months to work in a carpentry shop in his kibbutz. Most of his time was devoted to the Hagana, and he soon rose to the command stage and was even nominated for a mission abroad, but refused to go. After the events of the “Black Sabbath” (June 29, 1946) Yagur was fired from the women for “not cooperating” with the British authorities. And since then he has devoted himself entirely to activities in the Haganah. In the fall of 1947, he was appointed the commander of the area and organized his defense as the commander of the infantry unit in the area.In the reprisal operation after the murder of the Jewish workers who worked in the refineries by Arab rioters, his men attacked the village of Balad al- (January 1, 1948.) He was brought to rest at the cemetery in Yagur, and after his death he was promoted to the rank of Captain, where he was named today “Tel Hanan”.
