Zehavi (Goldfarb), Eliezer


Son of Yitzhak. He was a member of the Hashomer Hatza’ir youth movement in 1911. In 1932, he immigrated to Eretz Israel in one of the first Maccabiyot and joined the “Hachugim” kibbutz that was then in Ein Harod. A year later he left the kibbutz and moved to Herzliya and then to Tel Aviv, where he worked as a construction worker and continued to aspire to the life of a cooperative group, and he joined the Kiryat Anavim group that cultivated land near Moshav Beit Oved. On his last visit to Herzliya, about two weeks before his death, he expressed his pride in a conversation with a friend. On 26 Elul, 22 September 1938, Arabs opened fire on his group and Eliezer was killed. He was buried in Kiryat Anavim. Eulogies were published in “Davar” newspaper column.
