Zechariah, Dekel


Ben Oshra and me. Born on July 19, 1971 in Nahariya, twin brother to Tomer. Born in a religious family, observant of Torah and mitzvot. He studied at the “Even Shoham” religious elementary school in the city, then studied for one year in Kiryat Shmuel and completed his studies at the Technikom Kfar Tzvi Stryn yeshiva in the automotive mechanics course and received a teacher and technician certificate. Dekel was loved and loved by people and was able to honor his parents, brothers and friends. Studied Jewish studies more thoroughly than his grandfather, and therefore acquired a strong connection to the people and the heritage. He was very fond of nature and music and played for five years in the trumpet and even performed as part of the Nahariya Municipal Orchestra. During his free time, Dekel worked in various sports fields. After graduating from reserve duty at the beginning of May 1990, he was drafted into the army and assigned to serve as a tank mechanic in the Ordnance Corps, where he was promoted to a sergeant who was unable to finish. On October 16, 1991, he went with his girlfriend, Sergeant Rachel in Manoliker, to help her move her belongings to her home. At 1:30 AM, before entering the city of Nahariya, they both died when the car collided with an electricity pole. Dekel was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Nahariya. Survived by his parents, two brothers – Tomer and Ohad and a sister – Odelia. His family commemorated the donation of a Torah scroll to the Abba Shalom Shabazi synagogue in Nahariya.
