Zarco, Shabtai
Son of Isaac and Sultana. Born in 1950 in Istanbul, Turkey, his family arrived in Israel in 1963. Shabtai was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement in Tirat Hacarmel and was a counselor at Kken, where he studied at an elementary school in Kiryat Eliezer, Graduated as a car mechanic. He liked airplane building and built several models of fighter jets. He was interested and knowledgeable about airplanes. After graduating from high school, he was noted for his diligence and perseverance. He was a very dedicated son and loved his parents with great love. During his days off from school, he went to work in kibbutzim to help Nahal soldiers, and in July 1968 he was drafted into the IDF and, of course, volunteered to serve in the paratrooper paratroop brigade. On February 24, 1970, he was killed in a bombardment in the area of the Suez Canal and brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
