Zandani, Eliasaf (Yosef)
Eliasaf, son of Miriam and Saliman, was born in Yemen in 1947. In 1950 he immigrated to Israel with his family. Eliasaf was drafted into the IDF in mid-August 1964 and volunteered to serve in the Border Police. His commanders in the unit were pleased with his service and pleaded with him to volunteer for permanent army service, but Eliasaf loved changes and innovations and therefore refused. On his release certificate, his commanders wrote: “A good soldier, devoted and loyal.” In mid-October 1966, he completed his mandatory service and volunteered to serve in the police force, and thanks to his experience as a former border guard, he succeeded in his work and held it for about two years. Afterward he decided to complete his missing studies and take the matriculation exams. So he enrolled in an evening school. At that time he also received a private farm from the Jewish Agency in his birthplace – Yinon, and thus his dream was always fulfilled. He had far-reaching plans for his new market. During the Yom Kippur War, Eliassaf was placed as a combat soldier in an armored brigade and participated in battles against the Egyptians on the Sinai front On October 15, 1973, his unit encountered an Egyptian commando force near the “Budapest” post, Was buried in the cemetery on Mount Herzl and left behind a father, mother, brothers and sisters, and was promoted to the rank of corporal. Donated a Torah scroll to the synagogue in Moshav Yanun.
