Zamir (Zonana), Nissim


Ben Zion and Rachel. was born in Syria in 1945. He studied in the Talmud Torah in Syria. In 1962 he immigrated to Israel with his family. Nissim was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in 1964 and assigned to the Engineering Corps, where he spent his entire regular service in a combat engineering unit, where Nissim loved military life and found great interest in the service. Nissim took part in two wars – the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War – in which he served in the army, And on March 30, 1978, he was drafted into reserve duty and sent to southern Lebanon for the Litani area In the course of the search they entered an enemy area that was under the control of the terrorist organizations, and they encountered a group of terrorists who demanded that they accompany them, but our soldiers decided to try to escape. He fell in the line of duty on 27 March 1978. A monument in his memory was placed in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, leaving a mother, four brothers and five sisters. Following Operation Peace for Galilee, his body was returned to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
