Zamir, Avner

Zamir, Avner

Son of Moshe and Bella. Born on June 15, 1944 in Haifa. After graduating from elementary school and high school in Gush-Zevulun, he began working in agriculture. After a while he was accepted as a member of the Ramat Yochanan group. He had a penchant for music and this was expressed in clarinet and choral singing. In July 1962, he was drafted into the IDF and served in the Nahal Brigade. He fell in battle on the Syrian border on 23 Iyar 5727 (2.6.1967) and was brought to rest at the cemetery in Ramat Yohanan. On the anniversary of his death, the Ramat Yochanan group published a booklet in his memory called Avner. The place of battle is marked by Gilad, who was established there by his unit. In the book “Bimkomim”, which was published by the Union of Groups and Kibbutzim, several pages are devoted to the presentation of his own words.
