Zamir, Amnon (Ben-Zion)

Son of Aliza and Mordechai. He was born on 1 March 1968 in Kiryat Haim, where he studied at the Degania Elementary School in Kiryat Haim, the junior high school and Kadouri High School. He had undergone general training and was stationed in the navy. At the end of the technical-marine rationing course, he was sent to serve in the Shayetet 13. For his friends from his childhood at school, whom he met with occasionally, Amnon said that he has an interest and satisfaction in his position in the unit. His direct commander from this period noted that Amnon had done his duty with great devotion. On the 27th of Av 5747 (27.7.1987) Amnon fell while serving in the military cemetery on Haifa’s Carmel Beach, and was followed by his parents, Tamar’s sister, and Yaniv, in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family: Your son served in the maintenance company in the unit. He was loved by those around him, dedicated to his work … always with a smile on his face … “His parents donated two kayaks to the Hapoel Haifa-Yemiya branch.
