Zalmanowicz, Chaim


Son of Hannah and Hanoch. He was born in Afula on February 25, 1969. He completed his elementary studies at the Alon Yizre’el School in Afula and continued his studies at the son of-Gurion High School and at the ORT school in Afula. Where he completed his studies and was trained as an electron. As a child, Haim stood out as the leader of the neighborhood children. He was courteous, gentle and smiling, and for this he was loved by all those around him. He studied well and hoped to continue his studies as an engineer. Haim loved nature and animals, listened to music, read and worked on computer programs. At a young age he built various models of airplanes. Prior to joining the army he enrolled in a fitness center and began preparing his body for training. In August 1987 Haim was drafted into the IDF and at the end of his basic training he was placed at the Signal Corps base, where he was supposed to take an electronics course on December 9, 1987. On the day of his death he fell in a military cemetery in Afula. Left behind his parents and two sisters – Rachel and Gilo – in a letter of condolences to the family, his commander notes that Haim was of a gentle, quiet and sensitive nature.
