Zalmanovich, Shaul

Son of Sara-Sali and Yitzhak, was born on the 26th of Iyar, 1929 in the city of Lasi, Romania. Shaul completed his studies at the high school in his city, and in 1948 he immigrated to Eretz Israel, where he joined the IDF and was assigned to the Engineering Corps. On the 4th of Tevet 5709 January 5, 1949, during Operation “Horev” to remove the Egyptian army from Israel, Shaul was stationed at the outpost in Beit Hanoun in the Negev and was injured and died in the line of duty during the Egyptian shelling.
