Zaken, Yosef (“Yossi” and “Jojo”)


Son of Victor and Zulia. He was born on February 11, 1939 in the city of Zerta, Tunisia. The family immigrated to Israel in 1949. He was ten at the time and his father contracted paralysis so much that he could not work and support his family anymore. The whole family took up the burden of making a living, because twelve people were in it, and Joseph participated in it when he was busy with his studies; He then studied at the religious elementary school in the village of Minhat Yerushalayim until he finished them. When he finished school, he studied the electrical profession and worked there until his enlistment. During his studies he was a member of the Scouts in Jerusalem. He was drafted into the IDF in February 1957 and served in the armored corps, and after he was discharged he was hired by the engineering mail office in Ramle and in the evenings he learned the profession of cable connectors in the engineering post. The third of her battles, on the 28th of Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967), fell in the shelling of the enemy in a battle held in the Old City of Jerusalem, leaving a wife and a daughter who was about a year old in the fall of her father.
