Son of Hanna and Eliezer. He was born on July 30, 1954 in Jerusalem. He is the second son of a family of seven. Uri grew up and was educated in Jerusalem. He studied at the “Kushat” religious elementary school and the “Ort Hanichim” high school in the automotive mechanics course. He graduated high school with honors, and until his induction he worked as a mechanic in a police garage. In his youth he was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed and Betar movements, and Uri played soccer on the youth team as part of the neighborhood ‘Youth Home’, and in his spare time he loved riding horses, shooting ranges of weapons and shooting stills and videos. Literature In the middle of February 1972, Uri was drafted into compulsory military service in the Israel Defense Forces and at the end of basic training he was placed in the Ordnance Corps. For his technical skills, he was sent to a mechanic training course, and at the end of the course he was stationed in the Armash company, which was in Sinai at the end of the training period, where Uri expanded his professional training in a course for armored personnel carriers, a vehicle exam course, and a training course for the Ordnance Corps. Yom Kippur Uri was part of the IDF forces who crossed the Suez Canal and settled for many months on the western side of the canal on African soil. In 1975, Uri embarked on a parachuting course and at the end of his career joined the army. During his service, Uri married his girlfriend Carmela, and the two widened their family upon the birth of the daughters – Aya and Shri, and the son Or – Uri was a family man, husband, father, son and model brother. , Uri was among the Paratroopers who was sent to Lebanon, and wrote: “… I had the feeling that the company would require a lot of casualties and that lowered my morale … Today I saw a dead terrorist for the first time. A year later, Uri left the army and found his livelihood by producing films and various works, and after two years in civilian life he returned at the request of his commander to the ranks of the permanent army. Strong character … organizes the work in an efficient and professional manner … reliable and sensitive to the purchase of the IDF … It is important to advance it and bring it out as soon as possible to an officers’ course. ” In 1983 Uri was sent to a basic officers’ course and later to a course for ordnance officers, and graduated with honors. Uri was placed as an armaments officer and was asked to serve at the base near his home and family. Where he served as an armaments officer until his dying day. Uri stood out in his warm attitude and his educated approach to his subordinates and his soldiers saw him as a father. Young soldiers, who had difficulties and problems, found a sympathetic ear, support and encouragement, and during his vacation from the army he used to host them at home. Uri used to visit soldiers from the unit to visit them and convince them to return to the unit, to continue their duties and take responsibility. He was a good man, Lev and pleasant, always optimistic, smiling and very friendly, an interesting conversationalist, courteous and polite, generous and modest and very curious. Uri saw the world through the ‘eye of the camera’, took a lot of pictures and managed to express his loves and feelings through his many photographs. His dream, to study higher education, was not enough to fulfill. During a unit sports day Uri felt ill and was rushed to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. The doctors made every effort to restore him to his health, but after a few days, on the 18th of Shevat 5748 (February 5, 1988) he died. Uri was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Raya – Carmela, left two daughters – Aya and Shri, son of – Or, parents, sister – Gilo, and five brothers – Eliyahu, Nahum, Amos, Daniel and Eyal. In a letter of consolation to the family, the unit commander wrote: “Despite his short stay, Uri joined us”. The family immortalized its name in a synagogue in Jerusalem, and set up a special observation point in the Independence Park of America, overlooking the Judean hills and Jerusalem.
