Zakai, Boaz-Yochanan

Zakai, Boaz-Yochanan

Son of Tzadika and Zakai, he was born on Yom Kippur, September 28, 1963, in Petach Tikva, where he studied at the Netzach elementary school in his city and at the Amal vocational school. In the spring of 1981, Boaz enlisted in the IDF. He underwent basic training in the midst of the Peace for Galilee War. When he completed his training, he did his best to serve in a combat unit in Lebanon, but before his requests were met, Boaz-Yochanan found his death on the 29th of Sivan, the 20th of June, 1982. He was 19 years old. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Petach Tikva. He left behind his parents, five brothers and six sisters. The commander of his unit wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Throughout my acquaintance with Boaz, I learned how sensitive, diligent, and good-hearted he was, and he did everything in his power to fulfill the tasks that were imposed on him.”
