Menachem, son of Zehava and Avraham, was born on July 30, 1948 in Rehovot. He studied in Haifa at the Ma’ale Hacarmel Elementary School, the Hebrew Reali School and the Ironi Aleph High School. Menahem was an outstanding student, clever and alert, and he read many books in various fields, both thrillers and science books. He had a sense of humor, and in his mischievous jokes he knew how to entertain all his listeners. He was courteous and polite, gentle and pleasant. Poor and humble, he did not like to stand out and disliked condescension. In 1970 he married his girlfriend Yehudit and since then he has always been a loyal son of his parents, a model brother, devoted husband to his wife and a loving father to his Danish daughter. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Menachem was conscripted and sent to the front in the Golan Heights, where he participated in the battles on the El-Al axis and the “Hoshenia” axis. On the 10th of Tishrei 5734 (10.10.1973), during the battle for the outpost “Tel-Pazaar”, which controls the Syrian withdrawal route, a shell hit him, killing him on the spot. At first he was considered missing, and after a month and a half it was determined on the basis of testimonies that he had been killed. He was brought to rest in the cemetery in Haifa, about a month after the family, on its own initiative, found its bones inside the tank. He left behind a wife and daughter, father, mother and brother. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant.
