Yuval (Wallert), Ze’ev


Son of Avner and Ruth. He was born on June 15, 1947 in Kibbutz Beit Hashita. He studied at the “Mevo Hagalil” school in Ayelet Hashahar. During his studies, he engaged in kibbutz activities such as sports (basketball and soccer), painted a little during his leisure time and sometimes even wrote songs for parties at the kibbutz. Ze’ev was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1965 and volunteered for the Israel Air Force in November 1967. He was a good officer and accepted by all, disciplined and professional, and he performed his work to the satisfaction of his commanders. On May 17, 1969, Lieutenant-Colonel Ze’ev was killed in the course of his duties, leaving a pregnant wife and his daughter born about two months after his death, and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Ayelet Hashahar.
