Yudkovich, Vladimir


Vladimir ben Marcus and Miriam was born on the 23th of Sivan 5713 , June 6, 1953, in the Soviet Union. In 1975, he immigrated to Israel with his parents, brother and sister, and the family settled in Be’er Sheva, where he married Rissa and had a son, He worked as an electrician. In the army, he was trained as a rifleman, and was discharged on August 7, 1977. During the course of his reserve service, he was placed in the engineering corps and served as a cadet. On August 9, 1978, Vladimir joined a truck transporting water for fortifications on the northern border. The truck veered off it’s course and overturned, killing Vladimir. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Be’er Sheva. He left behind a wife, son, parents, brother and sister. In his letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Vladimir stood out as a good person and as a model soldier, never hesitated to volunteer and lend a helping hand to the tasks he was entrusted with.
