Yosha, Amnon

Son of Sarah and Shlomo, fourth generation in Israel. He was born on the 23rd of Tevet, December 31, 1923 in Tel Aviv. He excelled in languages, and graduated from the Kedma high school. Afterward, he managed his brother’s metal coating factory. Amnon was very devoted to his parents. Amnon loved sports and participated in many basketball competitions for the Maccabim Atid Covenant. When he was 16, he joined the Haganah and fulfilled his duty with loyalty. On the day after the declaration of the state, he was called up to full service and served in the 7th Brigade. When his brother was seriously injured, he came home for a short vacation. He cheerfully told his family “Whoever passed the first attack on Latrun and was saved, death is no more a threat than his fear.” Amnon returned to fighting without being deterred. He took part in the “Ben-Nun Bet” operation for the breakthrough to Jerusalem and fell in an attack on the Legion in Latrun on the 22nd of Iyar, May 31, 1948. On the 11th of Adar 5702 (28.2.1950) he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
