Yosef, Uri


Son of Hans and Elza. He was born on the 3rd of Nissan, April 13, 1947 in Rechovot, to a family of farmers living in the village of Warburg. When he reached school age, he began studying at the Mevo’ot School in Be’er Tuvia, and then continued high school in the local high school. He was drafted into the IDF in July 1965, and was one of the first soldiers in the reconnaissance company. He took a platoon commander’s course and served in this unit. As a soldier and commander, he excelled in his courage and bravery, and was admired by all. On the 2nd of Elul, August 26, 1968, during a tour along the eastern bank of the Suez Canal near Ismailia, his vehicle boarded a landmine, killing him. He was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kfar Warburg.
