Yosef, Shmuel (Shrema)


He was born in Tel Aviv on the 5th of Tishrai, September 27, 1930. He studied in a Talmud Torah for Yemenite Jews and later studied shoemaking and worked in a shoe making factory. From childhood he was a member of the Beitar youth movement. In 1948 he joined the Irgun underground and participated in its activities. In the winter of 1948 he continued his underground activities and guard duty for the Irgun in the area of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, in the Manshiyya neighborhood, north of Jaffa. Later with the Irgun in the city of Ramle he fell during reconnaissance patrols. On the 1st of Sivan, June 7, 1948, Shmuel was laid to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
