Yosef, Mordechai


Mordechai, son of Victoria and Shabtai, was born on 29.11.1954 in Cairo, Egypt, and immigrated to Israel with his family in early October 1957. Mordechai was drafted into the IDF in early February 1973 and volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade and was trained to wear a paratrooper’s wings, and one of his friends was told that he was impressed by Antonio’s broad and warm smile. “Said a friend, who told how Antonio used to play candy and fruit from the main kitchen, to the delight of his friends, and that Muki’s sense of humor saved him from embarrassing situations. Mordecai was an excellent and dedicated soldier, who managed to drop 13 times and proudly and enthusiastically recounted every jump When the Yom Kippur War broke out, his unit, an infantry unit, was sent to the southern front, and Mordechai participated in the bravery battles and fought with courage and with exemplary devotion, he participated in the bitter battles on the “Chinese ranch” and was killed on October 17, 1973, – eight months after his enlistment – during one of the attempts to conquer him, he was brought to rest in the military section of the civilian cemetery in Be’er Sheva, leaving behind a father, mother, brother and four sisters. The then defense minister, Moshe Dayan: “Mordechai served in the infantry. He was a devoted soldier and a loyal friend. Mordecai was loved by all. “Mordechai’s parents published a pamphlet in his memory, which included the words of friends, educators and relatives about his character and his way, which was interrupted by the taste of time.
