Yosef, Menachem


Son of Sarah and Jacob, was born on 30.5.1961 in Moshav Nevatim in the Negev. In August 1979 Menachem joined the IDF and served in the Intelligence Corps. During his service in the army, the commander of his unit said: “While he served in the unit, we learned to recognize him and his devotion, his greatness and his desire to learn and progress, his pleasant manner and his willingness to always help his comrades in the unit”. On the 29th of May, 1980, Menachem and his unit left for the Golan Heights. The route of the trip was determined to Nahal Yehudiya, Hamat Fader, Gamla and the Sea of ​​Galilee. When they visited Nahal Yehudiya, Menachem practiced jumping from a cliff to the stream. He jumped and drowned in the stream. He was 19 years old at the time of his death. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. He left behind a father, brother and sister.
