Yosef, Ezra

Son of Malka and Jacob. He was born on May 9, 1958 in Yokneam, where he spent his childhood and youth. Ezra studied at the elementary school and at the Sprinzak High School in the automotive electrical track. At the beginning of November 1976, Ezra was drafted into a compulsory military service, and was sent to the course of an armored vehicle technician, a device for treating tanks, cheetahs and armored personnel carriers, a long and difficult course that requires technical knowledge and a great understanding of the profession. At the end of the course Ezra went to serve in the spatial workshop. Ezra was a very professional technician and showed great responsibility for maintaining heavy and expensive equipment. The workshop commander wanted very much to continue his service and suggested that he sign up for army service. In October 1979 Ezra joined the army. He worked in the main workshops of the Ordnance Corps. Wherever he worked, positive opinions were written about him. His commanders noted him as a professional who did his job most efficiently. A disciplined soldier with a chance to advance in his profession, who invests great thought in his work. On December 6, 1985, Ezra fell in the line of duty. He died in a work accident while repairing a turret of a tank. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Yokneam cemetery. Survived by his mother, four sisters – Sabrina, Sara, Edna and Sima, and brother – Yehezkel. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of the unit wrote: “Ezra fell while he was repairing the tank by training him for battle, and he was an excellent professional.
