Yona, Menashe (Uzi)


Son of Latifah and Zakai was born in Tiberias on October 11, 1961. Menashe (Uzi) was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early February 1980. After completing his basic training, he was sent to the artillery training course, where he was assigned to a combat unit, He was asked to be transferred to a Golani or paratroopers unit, but due to a medical problem his request was denied, and since he was committed, responsible and disciplined, he understood that he must fulfill his duties well and accept his inability to join a combat unit. On May 17, 1981, Menashe (Uzi) fell during his service and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Tiberias. Left his parents, four sisters and two brother. His family donated a memorial candle to the synagogue in its neighborhood in Tiberias.
