Yoche, Zvi

Son of Mordechai. Born in 1915 in the town of Bulbi, Latvia, his father, who worked as a tailor, worked very hard to support his family and Zvi, as a youngster, began to help support the family, and he went to his parents’ home. He joined the “Hechalutz” movement, went on training, and in 1936, during the bloody riots, he immigrated to Israel and joined Kibbutz Shefayim, and soon became involved in the work of the agriculture and social life. He was not deterred by any hard work. He came to the country with the call to go down to the Negev, gladly offering himself to participate in the pioneering project of searching for water in Med And on his return to Shfayim, he enlisted as a guard. On 22 Elul, the 18th of September 1938, his van ran over a mine during a patrol, and three of his friends who were with him were killed on the spot. Twenty-three were in the fall, and the four were buried in a mass grave near the Shefayim eucalyptus grove, Zvi among them. The kibbutz published a special booklet in memory of those missing.
