Yochanan Sandovski

Yochanan (Yochi), son of Sarah and Abraham, was born on 28.11.1952 in Sde Yaakov. He was drafted into the IDF in early August 1971 and assigned to the commando unit. On October 15, 1973, his half-track was hit by a missile fired by the Egyptians. Yochanan was killed at the time of the breakthrough to the west of the Suez Canal, on the “Nahal” axis. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. Survived by his parents, brother and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
