Yitzhak, Trumpeldor-Yosef

Son of Lulu and Yitzhak, was born on January 6, 1951, in Iraq. His uncle, Shimon Eliyahu, chose the name Trumpeldor (later, the uncle was chosen to head the Hod Hasharon local council). This name was given to him out of a desire to express the connection to the Land and Zionism, regardless of the fact that it was a last name and not a first name. When Trumpeldor immigrated to Israel, and he was only one month old, they also added the name Yosef. Trumpeldor’s family settled in Magdiel. Yosef studied at the Sprinzak Elementary School in Hod Hasharon, and completed eight years of study. The economic situation at home did not allow him to continue his studies and he went to work to help the family’s agriculture. In 1969 Yosef enlisted in the IDF and served until 1972. After that he worked for a few years as a metalworker, and in 1975 he married her, and his daughter Yaakov was born in 1975. A year and a half later, her daughter Yocheved was born and Trumpeldor was active in sports, He also tried to play the guitar, and in 1978 Trumpeldor began to work for the Israel Prison Service, but he did his reserve duty as part of his army unit. (30.7.1979), on his way home from the reserve service, was killed by murderers and brought to rest in the cemetery in the colony What. He left behind a wife, son and daughter, parents, two sisters and a brother. To commemorate his memory, a soccer match was held each year in the Magdiel settlement, and the winning team receives a trophy donated by the family in honor of Trumpeldor Yosef.
