Yishai, Shimon

Son of Piya and Avraham, was born on the 17th of Shevat 5718 (February 7, 1958) in Moshav Yanov. Shimon was a member of a family that immigrated from Tunis and settled in Moshav Yanov. In August 1977, Shimon joined the IDF, underwent a basic training course and served in the paratroopers, and in December 1977 he participated in a parachute training course in which his best friend was killed in Operation Litani. On the 3rd of Tammuz 5739 (28.6.1979) Shimon went out with his friends to swim in a stormy sea, and one of his friends went into the sea and came into the whirlpool and began yelling for help. Shimon jumped into the sea on his own initiative and drowned. He was buried in the cemtery in Yanov.
