Yosef, son of Sarah and Chaim z “l, was born on January 16, 1951, in the Kislun transit camp in the Jerusalem corridor. At the age of two, Yosef moved with his family to Moshav Nahalal in the Lachish region. He completed his elementary studies at the “Yehuda Halevy” school in the regional center of Moshav Menucha, Nechala and Segula, where he completed his high school studies at the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in Neveh Herzog in Ashdod. He believed in the observance of all the commandments and laws and was faithful to his faith and the path he had chosen for him in his life, he saw perfection in the way of life according to the full and sincere faith, he was meticulous in his respect for his father and his mother, Yossi was quiet and gentle, humble and humble, and came out of his peace only when he spoke on issues related to Judaism He always liked to speak with his friends about these issues, always expressing strong opinions and strong views, because his way of Zionism, his understanding, and his realization were clear to him. Yossi was assessed for his qualities and integrity with himself and his way, and anyone who met him once was always looking for his closeness: Joseph was drafted into the IDF in mid-August 1969 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After completing basic training, and after completing his tank training course “Patton”, he was placed as a tank driver in an armored unit. In the course he was an outstanding trainee, and thanks to the many efforts he invested and the great willingness he discovered, he received a visit to the Knesset. During the War of Attrition, Yossi was still in regular service, and he took an active part in the Sinai War. After he was discharged from regular service, Yossi returned to his moshav, his farm, and worked in the family farm. Sometimes he was called for periods of active reserve duty. His father died when he was a regular soldier, and he became his family’s main breadwinner. Yossi rehabilitated the farm and worked in agriculture with great devotion. With great effort and with all his energy and energy in his hard work, he managed to support the family with dignity. He sought out – and found – more work on the family farm, managed to find time for it at the expense of his recreation, all to ensure all the needs of his brother. He understood very well the magnitude of the burden he had taken upon himself and was successful in the many difficulties imposed on him. Due to his maturity, devotion and strong will, he managed to overcome all obstacles and difficulties and to be the mainstay of family and world life. At the same time, Yossi never forgot that his mother was the mother of the house and the family and treated her with great respect. He asked for permission from his mother and gave her the feeling that she was the head of the family and was the dominant figure in the house. During the Yom Kippur War, Yossi participated in the battles of containment and break-ins against the Egyptians on the Sinai front. On the 19th of Tishrei 5734 (October 15, 1973) Yosef was killed during the battle for the conquest of a bridgehead at the Chinese Farm in the central sector of the Suez Canal. About two weeks later, his family was notified that he was missing. Yossi’s body was found about six months after his fall and he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. He left behind a mother, brothers and sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
