Yemini, Meir

Meir, ben Hedva and Benjamin, was born on the 15th of TIshrai, October 9, 1946, in Kibbutz Yavneh. Meir was a friendly and beloved, and a devoted son to his parents and family. Meir was drafted into the IDF in mid-July 1964 and was assigned to the Nahal Brigade within the framework of the farm unit. After graduating from basic training, he was appointed commander of a class in the Armored Corps unit and completed his army service. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, and Meir was sent to the Suez Canal with his unit. On Simchat Torah, the 22nd of Tishrai, October 18, 1973, at the time of his company’s assault on the enemy in the area of ​​the Abu Sultan Camp, Meir was killed by enemy fire and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Kvutzat Yavneh. He left behind a mother, two brothers and a sister. A commander wrote: “I knew him as a fighter and brave commander. Meir had exemplary leadership skills, and gave the men confidence during times of war.”
