Meir, son of Zilpa and Jacob, was born on the 6th of Iyar 5704 (June 6, 1944) in Dahuk, northern Iraq, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1951. In Israel, he completed his studies at the Neve Ya’akov elementary school, He spent three years in high school and passed the matriculation exams, where he spent his childhood in the Katamonim neighborhood, where he quickly acclimated with his contemporaries, and his classmates loved him for his gentleness and kindness. With difficulties, despite the conditions of distress at home, and even when the family moved to another neighborhood, Meyer quickly contacted friends with the neighbors And his mother and his mother gave him recognition of the importance of their studies from childhood, and despite the fact that they had five sons and daughters, they spared no effort and spent days and nights working hard on behalf of their sons. Meir was drafted into the IDF in mid-August 1963 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After completing his basic training, he completed a tank training course and was certified as a gunner. After successfully completing a course for instructors, he was assigned to the Armored Corps School as a guide. Despite his hard work, his desire to study did not diminish and he completed a preparatory course for academic studies, and for this reason volunteered to extend his regular service by eight months. His discharge certificate described his behavior as good and his commanders’ assessment that he was a good and disciplined soldier. At the end of October 1966 Meir was discharged from regular service. He enrolled in university and studied for three years in the Faculty of Economics and Oriental Studies. He participated in the battles of the Six-Day War as a tank gunner, and twice managed to save himself when his tank was hit by anti-tank fire, and was awarded the “Six Day War.” Meir married his girlfriend Shoshana and began to work as an economist at the Bank of Israel, He was not Simcha when his daughter was born and his son was born, and Meir was a devoted husband and father, And at the same time served as a liaison between all the brothers and sisters and the parents, and the commandment of “Honor your father and mother” On Yom Kippur 5734, Meir prayed at the Western Wall, and at the moment when the siren sounded at noon, he folded his hands and asked him to do so. In a tank-armor battle that took place at the foot of Tel Kudna on the Golan Heights on October 9, 1973, his tank was hit by an enemy shell and Meir was killed. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by a wife, daughter and son, parents and five brothers and sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. In a letter of condolences to the family, his commander wrote that “We, his comrades in the unit, lost a dear and dedicated friend.
