Yelovski, Abraham
Son of Jacob. He was born in 1850 in Bialystok, Poland, where he was educated in the tradition and later ordained as a rabbi, and in 1883 married a wife and then immigrated to Eretz Israel alone to first explore the land and prepare a place for his family. For four years he worked in agriculture in Mikveh Israel and Rishon LeZion, and was among the first group to purchase plots in Nahalat Reuven, the estate of Reuven Lerer, the pioneer of the Nes Tziona settlement in the future. Avraham was the only one who built his own cottage, on the road to Rishon Letzion. He brought his family from Bialystok in 1887. That winter was the year It was hard to escape from the floods and the cold, and Avraham moved his family to the Khan’s courtyard, and he himself remained to maintain his place of residence and to earn a living. On 10 Tevet (1887), he was killed in his hut by murderers after strong resistance on his part while using his ax. He was laid to rest in the cemetery of Rishon Lezion. He left a wife and four children.
