Yehuda, Yaakov

Yehuda, Yaakov

Son of Aziz and Alois. He was born on the 11th of Nisan, 5702 (6.4.1952) in Jerusalem. He studied in the “Branch of Life” in the Jordan Valley and the Arab Education Center, which is considered a high school. Yaakov was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement in Jerusalem and participated in most of the marches that were held on her behalf (the Tel Hai march, the Jerusalem march, etc.). He loved the journeys and took part in every school trip. During his spare time he read books, which he would ask from his friends and from the university where he worked. He spent the late evening in the Seif circle, which he liked very much. On Saturday evenings and on weekdays he played soccer with his friends. He liked to play guitar and there was a stamp collection. He was by nature a quiet boy who never refused to do anything that was asked because he would gladly help others. He had a sense of humor and warm affection for all his friends. His teachers liked him very much for his easy temper and for his diligence. Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in the middle of August 1971, and since he wanted to serve in a combat unit, he volunteered for Golani, where he successfully completed basic training and was assigned to serve as a combat soldier in one of the battalions of the HaBokim Battalion. (February 13, 1972), fell in pursuit of terrorists in the Gaza Strip and was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
