Yehuda (Leon) Tzarfaty

Son of Haim and Mazal. He was born on the 26th of September 1929 in Salonika, Greece. The family immigrated to Israel in 1934. For a short time he learned the language of the country and went to work as an apprentice in a lawyer’s office. He was 17 years old when he joined the ranks of the Palmach. He was drafted into the IDF in February 1948 and served in Jerusalem when the city was besieged and wounded twice (in his head and hand) on the 18th of Tishrei, 5724 (18.10.1963) he fell while serving in the military cemetery in Haifa. He left a wife and three children.
