Yehezkeli, Avner


Son of Shlomo and Leah. He was born on April 15, 1947 in Kibbutz Yavne. He studied until the third grade (and generally) in Ramat Gan and then completed his elementary studies in Givatayim. Prior to joining the IDF in May 1965, he worked in the Military Industries and volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade. While in compulsory service, he proved himself to be a disciplined and dedicated soldier with initiative and resourcefulness and a loyal friend of his comrades in arms. The Six-Day War broke out, and on the fourth day of its battles, on the 9th of Iyar 5727 (June 8, 1967), in the Battle of Bir Gafgafa in Sinai, he fell. Since his body was not found, a monument was erected in his memory for the missing persons in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. In the book “On your stage a space” published by comrades to arms were brought his history. His memory was included in the Municipal Information Bulletin and the local life of the Givatayim Municipality and in the “Book of the Fallen” published by the municipality. This fallen hero is a “maklan” – a hero whose burial place is unknown.
