Yaron, Tsafrir
The firstborn son of Chaim and Lordna. He was born on May 18, 1960 in Kibbutz Yiftach. When he was one year old, his parents moved to Moshav Sde Moshe in the Lachish region. Until ninth grade, he attended schools in Kiryat Gat and then completed high school at Beer Tuvia High School. Zafrir was involved in the moshav’s life and loved agriculture. At the end of July 1978, Tzafrir was drafted into the IDF, and after completing basic training he volunteered for a Naval Tanker Course and began it in October 1978. On Tsabrir (14.4.1979), when he was on vacation, Tsafrir was killed in an accident. The cemetery in Kiryat Gat left behind his parents, sister and brother in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family: “A model trainee and a loyal friend Tsafrir was from the day he arrived at the officers’ school. Since his early days, Tzafrir has stood out as an honest guy, a lover, an assistant to his friends, and a man of excellent performance … Tzafrir volunteered for a naval course and wanted to be a naval officer. And indeed his right to be one of the elite units in the IDF. Zafrir z “l ordered us to continue in the way he went and to believe in the ideals in which the man of the land believed that he volunteered in the IDF for an elite unit.”
