Yariv (Krieger) David


Son of-Eliezer and Tzipora. Was born in Magdiel on August 12, 1934. After graduating from elementary school in Magdiel, he attended a high school in Kfar Saba but was forced to stop his studies in order to help his parents in the kibbutz. He enlisted in the IDF in July 1953 and took a pilot course. After compulsory service he continued in the regular army and gradually attained the rank of captain. After his discharge from the army, he moved with his wife to Mishmar HaEmek for nine months and then settled in Magdiel. Among his qualities are his heartiness, his love for society and the fact that he has a special sense of humor and a pleasant smile. Above all, his love for the family and children and his devotion to values ​​such as morality, security, independence and state. In addition to these, he had the energy and initiative, diligence and planning and vision for the future, and thus established a magnificent modern farm. He had a strong character and a clear mind. From 1962-1963 he worked as a pilot in the “Cimauer.” The Air Force served as a second home and joyfully and enthusiastically went to reserve duty until the Six Day War broke out, and even then served in the reserves as a combat pilot. In the Six-Day War he belonged to the same squadron to which he belonged to the Sinai Campaign and was very proud of it. On the first day of the battles, he fell on the airport of Bir-Gafgafa, Sinai, in a battle with the enemy aircraft. During the battle, when he knocked down the MiG, he shouted to his friends with a supreme joy of victory through his radio: “Look, he’s on fire! He left a wife, a son and a daughter. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
