Yakuel, Michael
Son of Simcha and Zion, was born on March 23, 1926 in Tel Aviv, and acquired a popular education, and his family moved to Bat Yam, where he was a member of the Gadna and served as a courier. When he was 17, he went to Kibbutz Alonim for training and a year later returned home and began working as a mechanic at the Ford garage. Afterward, he returned to serve for another two years as a guard at Kibbutz Kinneret. At the outbreak of the War of Independence following the UN decision to partition the country, he joined the army and took part in the battle for Jaffa, where he completed a sniper course in Tzrifin and a driver’s course, participated in battles in the vicinity of Latrun and al-Kubab, He was transferred to a hospital in Zrifin, where he died on Sunday, March 2, 1949, He was brought to eternal rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery.
