Yakir (Deri), Aharon

Son of Rafael and Gracia. He was born on January 24, 1938, in Jerusalem. Lost his father when he was four years old and was sent to the “Diskin” orphanage where he studied. He then completed his studies in an elementary school in Haifa. He belonged to Hanoar Haoved. Was a clerk and mechanic of vehicles. Was drafted into the IDF in August 1955. After his enlistment, he changed his name (Deri) to a Hebrew name: Yakir, who fell in the course of his duties on April 13, 1956, and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
