Yakir, Avraham (“Tzoch”)


Son of Haim and Hannah. He was born on February 3, 1950 in Tel Aviv. He studied at the Balfour and Ahavat Zion elementary schools. When the parents noticed that he had ‘gold hands’ and that he had technical skills, they decided to continue his studies in a vocational school. He was accepted to the Ort-Synglovsky vocational school and successfully completed his studies as an electronics engineer. During his studies, Avraham was a member of the United Movement. During his studies, Avraham developed his hobby – a radio amateur. Apart from the construction of electronics devices, such as transistors, Abraham spent many hours of his time communicating with radio fans in different countries, and the sound of his 4K WK station went far. Avraham even participated in competitions of radio fans and won prizes and certificates. As an outstanding student at the school, Avraham was sent to write his thesis for the title of the Schneider factory in France. Avraham spent half a year there developing a patent in the field of color television, which was highly appreciated. Avraham was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-May 1970 and volunteered for the Air Force, where he served as an officer in the squadron. Avraham underwent a flight course and became a full-time pilot in the Israel Air Force, during which he carried out 17 operational sorties into Egypt and Syria and returned safely, while he met Klarit, who married and set up their home in one of the Israel Air Force bases. Their daughter – Efrat – Avraham was an excellent officer, admired by his commanders and subordinates, and his commanders admired him in the periodic opinion as “a good and responsible officer, quiet, disciplined and devoted “On the 14th of Tammuz (14.7.1974) Avraham fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving behind a wife, daughter, parents and sister.
