Yahav, Shmuel (Sammy)


Ben Rita and Ovadia was born on November 20, 1948, in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, and immigrated to Israel with his family through France in 1952. Was conscripted into the IDF at the end of July 1966 and assigned to an engineering corps. After completing basic training, he completed a parachute course and a course in the Israel Defense Forces, where he served in various units, participated in the Six-Day War, was awarded the war signal. At the beginning of 1978 Shmuel returned to the army and was appointed as a training officer of the Gadna ” And the deputy commander of the Gadna unit in Sde Boker, where the soldiers of the Gadna and the youth in distress saw him as a big brother who took care of every detail and tried to advance them to a life of useful citizenship. On September 9, 1979, Captain Shmuel fell during his service and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Holon. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of Major. He left a wife and two sons, parents and two sisters.
