Son of Margalit and Shalom. He was born on June 19, 1970 in Tel Aviv. A brother to Hagit and Neta. In 1988 he enlisted in the Engineering Corps, the “Yael” reconnaissance unit, then completed an officer’s course and was appointed an engineering officer in the commando unit. During his military service he underwent diving and diving courses. After his military service, he toured the world: in Europe, the United States and Guatemala. In the reserves, he joined the Paratroopers Brigade, first as commander of the reconnaissance unit, and later as commander of the company, which he founded – the new company A in the battalion, as part of the Paratroopers Brigade. Two weeks after the outbreak of the Second Lebanon War, Nati was drafted into the war. “He had a lot of motivation, he never spoke of fears, an incorrigible optimist, the state was as important to him as the family,” Hagit told her brother. Nati made sure to call from the reserves to calm his family. He used to volunteer for many reserve days, never missing a single training day. At first the battalion was trained in Tze’elim and later moved to Afula and from there they went to Lebanon. After a few hours of ‘Apter’, which he spent with his family, he returned to his soldiers. The company entered Lebanon on 8 August 2006. Their destination was Reshef, in the south. They went on their mission, and when dawn came they found shelter in the house in the village of Debel. On the day of Tu B’Av (9.8.2006) at 12:24 the house was attacked with two missiles, Major Nati Yahav was killed in a battle in southern Lebanon with eight of his soldiers, and he was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery.
