In 1994, Shimon arrived with his family in Israel as a tourist, and on his visit he fell in love with Israel and wanted to stay there He returned to Russia to continue his studies, and in 1996 immigrated to Israel alone, as part of the Na’aleh program, and began studying at the Migdal Or High School in Ofra. Later, the family arrived in Israel and settled in Tel Aviv. Shimon was a serious and bright young man, loved to help people and contribute to the environment. He was a kind and forgiving person who did not hate anyone, even if the other person had hurt him very much. In December 2000, after completing his studies, Shimon enlisted in the IDF, and from the young age he dreamed of joining the army and succeeding in this framework, and was very happy when he was able to advance his induction, which was scheduled for 2001. After training in basic training and driving, “Shimon was a motivated soldier,” said his commander, Lt. Col. Ilan, “who fulfilled his responsibilities responsibly and with extraordinary self-discipline … In the short period of service under my command, he managed to make his mark on the soldiers and commanders of the unit. “Shimon aspired to be the best there was, and planned to go to an officer’s course and advance in the IDF. On May 10, 2001, Shimon was killed in a road accident near Nahal Oz at the age of nineteen. He was promoted to corporal after his death, and Shimon was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon, leaving behind his parents and sister.
