Yacobi, Zvi


Zvi, son of Chana and Michael, was born on September 4, 1952 in Jerusalem. When he was in the IDF regular service, he began to repeat the study material in order to be prepared for the beginning of the studies, and his commanding officer took advantage of every spare moment of his training to study, To leave Be’er Sheva to complete his preparations for the beginning of the school year,And he did not. Zvi was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-November 1970 and assigned to the Armored Corps, where he was trained as a tank gunner and sent to serve in a tank brigade in the Sinai. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, his unit was on the front line in Sinai and participated in the battles of containment and infiltration against the Egyptians. Zvi and his comrades were assigned to assist IDF soldiers who were besieged in the strongholds on the banks of the Suez Canal. On the morning of the 11th of Tishrei 5740 (7.10.1973), Zvi set out in a small convoy, moving on the “Lexicon” axis toward the “Chinese farm”. The purpose of the convoy was to rescue the soldiers of the “television” stronghold, among them many wounded. The convoy was hit by fire, which was fired from an ambush by Egyptian soldiers. The soldiers of the APC and Zevi attacked the Egyptian commando soldiers, who were in an ambush, and Zvi was killed. he was buried at the Mount Herzl cemetery in Jerusalem.
