Yacobi (Pachanovsky), Yitzhak Moshe
Yitzchak Moshe, son of Chaya and Shmuel (Pachanovsky) Yitzhak Moshe was born on August 31, 1926 in Lodz, Poland to a Zionist family, They immigrated to Israel in September 1936. He was loved by his friends because of his good character. With the outbreak of the War of Independence he stopped his studies and joined one of the “Hachayal” battalions in the “Carmeli” brigade, which consisted mainly of students, was taken to Ras al-Naqra, and shortly after that, his battalion went to attack Jenin. Yitzchak Moshe took part in a raid in the area beyond the Jordan River in the local military cemetery. On the night of 9 Tammuz 5708 (July 16, 1948) he went with friends to the village of Khirbet. In the Syrian counter-attack, his unit suffered heavy losses and had to retreat. Yitzhak was left with the machine gun to shield those retreating and fell in this position. His corpse was found near a landing post and was brought for burial in Rosh Pina. On the 25th of Kislev 5712 (December 4, 1950), he was laid to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
