Yacobi, Nehemiah

Son of Shoshana and Matityahu, was born on August 15, 1928 in Tel Aviv and grew up in Bat Yam. After completing his studies at the elementary school he studied frameworks and worked in this profession at the Vianini factory in Ramat Gan. He joined the Irgun underground in 1946. In the winter of 1948 Nehemiah joined the Irgun to occupy the Manshiyya neighborhood north of Jaffa and although he was the only son of his parents and the commander declared that anyone who could not go to battle was not obligated to do so. When he ran out of ammunition in his position, which was bombed by the British, Nehemiah ran to bring new ammunition, and he was hit and fell on the 20th of Nissan, April 29, 1948. A monument in his memory was erected in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
