Yacobi, Dan

Dan, son of Hannah and Moshe, was born on June 19, 1947 in Kibbutz Dorot, Dan was drafted into the IDF in early November 1965, He was a good soldier and a devoted friend, and as one of his comrades testified: “He was the first and last loader in the army. You come across a journey, guarding and training, with soldiers who disappear whenever you have to load equipment and help a friend. Few take the burden and help with unconditional training. Yacobi always managed to catch the heavy items first and to arrange them with his mighty hand. “In the Six Day War, his unit participated in the fierce battles on the Ramallah axis and on the Nebi Samuel-Shuafat axis, and because of his sensitivity, Danny changed his mind. At the end of 1968, Danny was discharged from regular service in the IDF and unlike the other members of the kibbutz, he did not decide whether to try another way of life or to return to the agriculture. . He firmly believed that this was the right way of life and argued bitterly with the undecided. He lived on the kibbutz wholeheartedly; He was rooted, a true kibbutznik, who hurt the deviations from the principle of equality and did not spare his criticism from those who, in his opinion, had strayed from the path. The kibbutz had a challenge and a personal purpose, and he loved the kibbutz lifestyle and its way of life. Danny married his girlfriend Aviva and together they established a warm and pleasant home, which was a meeting for members of his class. He was a hospitable guest and a savor of his simple delicacies, of the fruits of the earth. If Dorot had a social nucleus of the younger generation that was supposed to replace the veteran generation, Danny and Aviva and their infant son Roi were one of the strongest and safest links in the generation of generations. In two main circles his life revolved around his work and his family. He loved and admired his parents. He joined his father and his brother, and together they worked the land. His friend told the unit: “HiHe speaks of the land as his son and his son as the earth. Rooted to the point of admiration. Sometimes I would ask myself where all this innocence had been planted. When I met his parents, I understood. I understood and envied Adam, Danny. When we met, the conversation flowed smoothly. We did not talk about war or about the entire army, but about cotton, rain, crops and catapults, and about his son he loved, his wife and everything about his kibbutz, which he loved so much. “Throughout his years, They were involved in the Karameh operation and in many pursuits against the terrorists, long periods of reserve duty during which Danny was the “salt of the earth”, centralizing the unit, managing her household and maintaining her life. , With his great patience and power, the small opposites of activity, in which no one acquires glory and honor, he cares for every friend like father, and the many packages The Yom Kippur War broke out on the day that cotton began to be harvested in the farm, and Danny quickly taught the young man the task of harvesting and felt compelled to join his unit, and the unit participated in the bitter battles in the Sinai, but Danny did not He was convinced that the IDF was strong, that after this war it would be possible to reach peace and everything would be fine. On 3 November 1973, the reconnaissance unit was tasked with surveying the area of the Alliance, west of the Suez Canal, since the bunkers were still manned by Egyptian soldiers. – The cemetery at Kibbutz Dorot left behind a wife and son, parents and brothers, and was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.
